It's My Vacation Too! San Diego - California

Introduction

To The Reader

I was born and grew up just north of San Diego, California – in a little coastal town called Leucadia – it’s now a part of Encinitas. I had a terrific childhood. My home was only a block from the beach and, in those days, the area was spacious and rural. My four brothers and I would often wander the sage covered hills on the bluff searching for snakes, lizards and other creatures. Sometimes we would go to the nearby lagoon in search of sea birds and their nests in the salty marsh full of gooey thick mud. On other occasions we would walk down the street a few blocks to play baseball with the local kids in a grassy field. But mostly, we would gather our beach things and go to Ponto or Moonlight beach and spend the entire day (sunrise to sunset) swimming in the cool Pacific or playing on the soft sandy beach.

After you read this blog on San Diego, I think you too will agree that this area has a lot to offer - kids and adults alike - from its laid-back beaches to its exciting themed parks and zoos. It is because I love this city, and know how fun it is for kids, that San Diego was my first choice to write a travel guide for.

There is so much to do in San Diego that you can easily spend a week. If you've got two weeks, you may even find a little time to take it easy on the beach or by the pool. When all said and done, I make this promise to you -- if the places and activities in this blog sound fun and exciting and you give them a chance, you will not be bored. And, above everything else, that is the theme of these travel guides – perhaps the title should be, “It’s My Vacation Too!! - How not to be bored on your next family vacation”.

Even though all information contained in this blog, such as ticket prices, opening and closing times and other details, are confirmed at the time we go to press, changes occur all the time. I recommend that you always confirm the information in this book and I have provided the telephone numbers and websites to the various attractions to make it easier to check -- another reason to check is to find out about special programs and events.

One more thing. Your input is very important. Travel guides, as their nature, must be updated with additional and current information. Your input, your likes and dislikes, comments and information, will help make this guide even better and gives you the power to make it what you want it to be. So PLEASE post your comments.
